Georgie is Still Enjoying Himself at Jakarta...

We brought him to the Seaworld 2 days ago for his 1st time looking at underwater sea animals with a much more magnified view. He was indeed super happy... To him, everything is known as 'fish'. When we brought him to the sharks' aquarium; 'Fish...', he would point and say. Seahorse; 'Fish...', Turtle; 'Fish...', Eel; 'Fish', even when stingrays swam past him in the underwater tunnel, 'Fish!!!'

Anyway, he liked walking through the tunnel the most. Altogether, we have to bring him in and out for 4 times - he was just so fascinated by the... Travellators on the floor! not so much by the sea animals.

Georgie had the chance to take as many car rides as he likes at the arcade this time round. He was really as happy as a king! Well, this was the only chance when Mummy and Daddy have the time to bring him out almost every single day. I'm sure he will miss this experience when we're back in S'pore.

Greetings From Jakarta - Selamat Tahun Baru Imlek!

I Missed S'pore!

Yes, I know this starting liner may be a bit weird and doesn't totally fit in the excitement in my entry title. But, I really missed S'pore... The family photo-taking time on CNY day 1, the mahjong playing of my relatives, the hustling and bustling of preparing for CNY visits or even just having CNY cleaning up on CNY eve.

Things are just much more simple here at my in-laws. Because the family is not big, Georgie is the one who brings in the most hustle and bustle. And he has fallen sick just on Day 3 of our whole trip: Slight fever, cough, flu and a little bit of diarrhoea. I guess his tummy is adjusting to the environment here. Just praying that he will get better. The last 2 nights were the most challenging, as Georgie woke up crying 3-4 times, probably due to the unfamiliar environment and the very tiring CNY visits. At one moment, I thought that Yo has to perform some kind of a deliverance as well, coz Georgie kept kicking his legs and jumped up, patting his chest as in showing he was afraid and we had to calm him down.

Anyway, there are lesser celebrations in Jakarta as well; people started getting back to work on Mon - which is the 2nd day of CNY. My sis-in-law had school to attend, therefore we continued our visitations at night. The interesting thing is that our neighbours released fireworks for the past few nights till late into midnight; I was asking Yo how come my sis-in-law did not join in the fun, before I realised that this 'festive sport' is mostly for boys as it's quite a dangerous activity. He was saying some fireworks could land up into other people's homes, because instead of shooting upwards into the sky, it went sideways instead.. Haha - not as safe as the systematic display of fireworks in S'pore indeed.

During the afternoons when there're no visitations, we would go to the malls to do some Jalan Jalan. Went to our 2 favourite malls: Taman Anggrek and Senayan City. We had our J-Co Donuts (I know that S'pore has opened several chains, but there's just something different with having donuts and coffee in the Indo branches). The yogurt is simply nice (x10). I was totally enjoying my portion until I found another store selling better yogurt - 'Sour Sally'. Add it with strawberries, mangoes and longans topping - simply yummy(x100), and I think my little Audrey would like it as well... (Oops, I still didn't know the gender of my baby yet. On some days, I would call him Aiden, on other days, I would call her Audrey. Hope he/she doesn't have an identity crisis! :p)

When we were driving back from the malls yesterday, there was something interesting that I discovered. There was a line of people standing at the side of the road, asking for a hitch. Actually, this was just one of their sideline jobs: Because the highway that we were about to enter has a 3+1 system, meaning every car needs to have at least 3 passengers. This is to minimize the amount of traffic congestion. So for cars who have less than 3 passengers, they could pick one of the people at the roadside up to make up the number, or else would be caught by the traffic marshalls. Initially, Yo was still saying that normally they would open 1 eye and close 1 eye, until, we were being signalled to stop at the side of the road. However, nothing serious really happened, cause the traffic marshall couldn't see that we have more than enough passengers in our car as the windows were all darkly tinted.

Nonetheless, I would update you guys again on the happenings over here. It has been adventurous thus far. Ever since Yo accidentally knocked down a motorcyclist on CNY day 1 - (anyway it's not really Yo's fault, the cyclist was a young lad), I knew in my heart that this trip would be really quite different from our previous visits!

Have a great CNY celebration back in S'pore... Hope to see more photos from you guys in FB....
