Penning down...

Just spent 14 hrs at work today. I"ve finally adjusted to the lifestyle of focusing at work when it"s time to work and not being distracted by domestic resp. or thinking abt George.

Read thru a few friends" blog entries few hrs ago. Came to a realization that mothers are such noble creatures and great mothers are really those that threw behind their 'girly' rights or facet, making a decision to grow and mature. To take up the responsibility to be a source of support to their hubby and pillar of strength to their kids at the expense of their own interests. There's no room for the pouting of your lips and complaining of lack of sleep when you have to spend nights taking care of kids who have fallen sick. There's no justification for the cutting down of your shopping time, movie time or whatsoever personal time in exchange of more time with your family. When you've come so far to this phase, you suddenly realised how much your own mothers have sacrificed their little personal ambitions while they were and are still parenting you to give you the best in life.

I remembered that my mum used to pawn her jewellery, took up part-time sewing jobs at home, scrimped and saved...not to just pay the daily household expenses, but to have extra allowance to send us for piano lessons. Piano lessons!! During our time, learning piano is something exclusive.. a skill that my own peers do not have the luxury to pick up. Wow!!
And her reason being she wants to give us whatever opportunities we have to grow and develop our talents.

Kudos to all the wonderful dads but frankly speaking, there's always that extra something that mums can do that dads will find it being a challenge. Esp for the working mothers of today, it's really a feat to wake up early in the morn, go to work, excel in work, come back home, feed, bathe, tutor and play with kid, talk to hubby, encourage, motivate them in their work and the cycle starts again the next day, 24-7, 365 days a year. What about those seemingly insignificant, yet 'dirty' tasks they have to perform? For e.g. killing the cockroaches/lizards that are scaring the nerves out of their kids, the pulling of our kid's 'dropping' teeth, the execution of being the disciplinarian in the family, the running of errands and grocery buying..and the list goes on.

Just penning down.... ya, just penning down the thoughts of a young mum. The responsibilities to come seem great, yet when you see yourself in your little babe, as they imitate you and your funny behaviour, you can't help but being amused and in awe of this little gift that God has given you to develop, govern and protect for the rest of your life.

Paying a tribute to all mums, YOU ARE AWESOME AND DOING GREAT!!

Kids Say The Funniest Thing

One day while eating lunch, Javier asks me..

Ja: Yee Yee, how come George has blue-black? (He"s refering to his birth mark)
Me: Oh, God put it there.. So that God can recognise which baby is George..(I can"t think of a better ans.)
Ja: (aft thinking for a while) Then why God doesn"t put one on me?
Me: Hmm.. (almost choked by the rice, I just blurted out) Oh..that's because the moment you open your mouth to talk, God already knows that it's you from a distance!

The other time, Javier was actualy looking on while my dad was offering joss-sticks.

Ja: Gong Gong, the one in the centre is the king right?
(He's talking about the picture of the Tien-Gong)

Dad: How come you know? (Amazed at Ja's qns)
Ja: Because he's the only one sitting down. The 2 men beside him are standing up..

Javier asked my bro this qns one day..

Ja: Jiu Jiu, Pst Eileen is the boss of all the school teachers in church right?
Bro: ......... Eh, yes...
Do you know who is your daddy's boss?

Ja: (Silent)
(Either he knows but doesn't want to say, or he is confused..)
